Wayback Burgers landed on Boulevard Saint-Charles in Kirkland as part of the chain’s first push into Quebec, and after one visit it’s easy to see why West Islanders have taken to it. This is an American fast-casual burger joint, fresh ground beef, hand-breaded onion rings, and hand-dipped milkshakes, done the old-school way rather than the frozen-patty way.
I went with the Double Bacon Burger, and it delivered exactly what the name promises: two juicy patties, crisp bacon, melted cheese, lettuce, and a soft brioche-style bun that held together through every bite. On the side, I swapped fries for a full basket of onion rings. Thick-cut, golden, and crunchy without being greasy, they were easily some of the best rings I’ve had at a fast-casual spot in a while.
The dining room has that clean diner-meets-modern-fast-food look, black tile, red vinyl stools, and bilingual signage that leans hard into the brand’s playful “Respectons la manière” tagline. Service was quick, and the food came out hot within minutes.
For anyone craving a proper burger on the West Island without heading downtown, Wayback Burgers Kirkland is worth the stop. Bring an appetite, because that onion ring basket does not go easy on portion size.
